EVENT OVERVIEW

Happy 40th Anniversary!

For the past 40 years, approximately 200,000 Long Islanders and visitors from throughout the east coast participate in the region's largest waterfront festival... the Oyster Festival!

The beautiful and historic village of Oyster Bay, New York, hosts an outstanding weekend of family, fun, food and festivities under the auspices of the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Rotary Club and its Oyster Bay Charitable Fund.

We are celebrating the festival's 40th anniversary- paying homage to the oyster, by serving it in every conceivable form. On the half shell, fried, in chowder, and this year wood-fired, are highlights of our Oyster food court. Seafood, such as shrimp and clams, as well as more traditional festival foods are available as well! All foods are prepared and served by various Oyster Bay civic and non-profit organizations, making the Oyster Festival one of the region's most significant fundraising events.

Aside from the food courts, our festival boasts of the traditional excitement of oyster shucking and oyster eating contests, a huge arts & crafts pavilion, Newton Shows amusement rides & games, Kings of the Coast Pirate shows, the John J. Fireboat, the Nao Trinidad tall ship, the New Belgium Craft Brew Tent, and continuous live entertainment!

Oysters are unique to the Oyster Bay community, where they have been harvested for hundreds of years. Our founding sponsor, Oyster-Bay-based, Frank M. Flower & Sons, have continued this tradition since 1876. They are the only surviving original harvesting oyster company in New York state. More than 60,000 oysters on the half shell are consumed each year at the two-day event. We are thrilled to be able to share this special bounty of the sea with our neighbors.

Oyster Festival is a collaborative effort linking business, government, and the non-profit sectors in the best tradition of service to the community.

Join us Saturday, October 14th and Sunday, October 15th between the hours of 11am-6pm.
