THE OYSTER FESTIVAL GOES DIGITAL FOR 2020

OYSTER BAY, LONG ISLAND NY

The Oyster Bay Rotary Club and The Oyster Bay Charitable Fund present a newly designed and Covid-safe, digital, 2020 Oyster Festival. The 37th Annual Oyster Festival is REDESIGNED with BRAND NEW virtual experiences right here at www.theoysterfestival.org.

The 2020 Oyster Festival will continue the long-standing tradition to support local charities and includes a week-long tribute to the oyster, exciting on-line auctions, the traditional oyster and eating contest and more.

​

We look forward to October 2021 when the Oyster Festival is fully restored to its previous model once it's safe again and after the pandemic is over.  Expect the 2021 festival to be bigger and better than ever.

 

2020 Festival Details

 

Restaurant Oyster Week: Friday, October 16th - Sunday, October 25th
The week features local restaurants and business teaming up with local charities with delicious food (including take out, curbside pick-up and limited onsite dining in some cases).  Patrons will not only get delicious food and marvelous merchandise, but will have a portion of the proceeds going to local charities.

Online Auction: Tentatively Thursday, October 8th
An online auction starting October 1st with a professionally curated cornucopia of offerings is planned to include experience packages, golf packages, memorabilia, music items fine art, jewelry and other enticing products.

GoFundMe Fundraiser: Now Underway
The 2020 effort also includes a GoFundMe campaign designed to be the main fundraising vehicle in place of the massive food courts where, in previous years, organizations raised money through food sales.  This year, guests can lend their support through donations at https://www.gofundme.com/oyster-bay-charitable-fund.  Monies raised will be shared between the Oyster Bay Charitable Fund and the participating charities.

Drive-In Movie Night: Friday, October 23rd

Presented by the Town Of Oyster Bay, on Friday, October 23rd residents are invited to watch Hocus Pocus in Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park & Beach.  Visit the town website for details.

Oyster Contests: Saturday, October 17th
The traditional annual oyster “eating” and “shucking” contests are also planned to continue and will be streamed on the festival website. This event is NOT open to the public, but instead will be broadcasted on the internet for everyone to watch for free. Additional details and activities will be announced as festival week nears.

The Oyster Festival, the East Coast's largest waterfront festival attracting more than 150,000 attendees each year!

The October 2020 will be hyper local and will take place mostly online although will also have a presence working with local restaurants and possible car based activities or where physical distancing can be in place.
